‘Get Off Ya Couch and Come to the Cairns Ukulele Festival’ Tour Rolls On

Cairns

With a giant red couch, and a 12-foot tall Lanikai ukulele in tow, the “Get of Ya Couch and come to the Cairns Ukulele Festival” is making its way through southwestern Australia to promote the four-stringed instrument and lure people north to what has been described as the “Everest of Ukefests.”

Last year, an estimated 3,500 people flocked to Cairns to participate in the festival, and event organizers hope to top that impressive number. The Cairns Ukulele Festival takes place July 1-6, and until then, the “Get of Ya Couch” tour will be making daily stops at schools, community centers and the like.
