Back in the late 1990s, Jean Larrivée and company produced a large number of ukuleles, but eventually, they moved out of that space in order to focus on other instruments. Today, with the resurgence in popularity of the ukulele (particularly higher-end models), Larrivée has decided to re-enter the uke game, and the company unveiled its new, completely redesigned line at last month’s NAMM show. We were fortunate enough to spend some time with Jean at the Larrivée booth, and he gave us a tour through the range of sizes and wood combinations. He also discussed a bit about bracing and let us peer into his CNC machine.
