Ukulele Sales Remain Hot, Retailers Say

A new survey of retailers conducted by Musical Merchandise Review finds that sales of the ukulele show no signs of cooling off. In fact, 51% of business surveyed said that sales of the four-stringed instrument were up from the year prior, and 64% of retailers said they expected demand to remain high in the coming months.

“We have been at the uke craze for five-plus years and with a population base of about 45,000 people having sold over $200,000 worth of them the market is maturing and we are seeing a bit more step up sales,” Greg Weast at Columbia River Music in The Dalles, Oregon, told MMR.
